However, if you throw your player in a pocket full of change, expect to get scratches on the screen. The silicone cover does a great job of protecting the player form falls. Even though it's fairly thick, it is very flexible. Since I've put this on the player, I haven't been able to accidently knock it off my desk. However, the cover soon showed scratches and after about a month or two, I had to discard the plastic case as the scratches were too annoying and the plastic started cracking at the edges. This silicone sleeve is much more durable.
It is a simple matter to then pull the upper corners over the top of the player. The record button on the side is fully covered, but the material is slightly thinner in this area and the button is easily pushed through the cover. I have fat fingers and have never had a problem with any of the controls. For such a modest price (under $6 when I purchased it), this is a must have for your Sansa e200.I gave this product four stars only because it doesn't fully protect the screen from scratches and because it collects dust and lint too easily.Caution: There is a difference in the quality of silicone compounds. Some silicones from other manufacturers may tear more easily or otherwise have a lower quality level. I've had an E200 for a couple of years now and I like it just fine. When I first got it, I bought a hard, clear plastic case that snapped around it. Some other reviewers complained about tearing the cover, but the only way that this could happen would be if they tried to insert the player from the bottom through the rather slim plug-in port.As received, the sleeve was somewhat slippery. Removing the cover and rinsing it under water cleans it quickly, but it's a slight pain in the butt none-the-less.This slight stickiness does have its advantages.
While the material itself isn't tacky, the surface has a matte finish that causes dog hair, dust, dander or anything else that is small or lightweight to stick to it by static electricity. I've accidently dropped it a couple of times while trying to put it in my shirt pocket with no damage to the player or cover. This is a genuine SanDisk product and is consistent with the usual high quality of their products. The cover actually helps to prevent the lock button on the top of the player from accidently being moved yet the material is flexible enough to easily move out of the way to get access to the sliding switch. This was probably from the mold release that was used when the manufacturer made the sleeve. The silicone material cushioned the player exceptionally well. Finally, all the controls are easily accessed with the cover on.
What was nice about it was that it had a clear window that protected the screen from scratches and minor impact damage. The cover makes the player non-slip, which is a good thing. While the sleeve doesn't cover the screen, the thickness of the material prevents the screen from contacting flat surfaces. A simple wash with soap and water cleans things up rather nicely. This is a good thing, too, since the silicone sleeve attracts lint like crazy. I was able to insert the e200 quite easily by inserting it through the large rectangular opening and sliding it down toward the opening where the USB plug opening is located. The mold release helps to prevent the sleeve from tearing when removing it from the mold.
It is sticky (hard to get out of pockets), but it protects the player very nicely and keeps the screws in place. I had to have a case because my Sansa is one of the ones with the screws that fall out on their own. The case makes the player almost twice as bulky.
Also, rubber texture helps keep the player in place (car cupholder, clothing pocket) rather than slip around with the smooth metal of the player by itself. Great little cover to protect the player from nicks, scratches & drops. Lightweight & stays in place once it's on.
I really like this case, it keeps my player from sliding around on surfaces and cushions it from minor bumps.
Also the shipment was sent in a timely matter I was pleased with the MP3 Player that I received.
